As mortal beings, we’re used to having a finite time to experience life; sometimes life is short, sometimes life is extremely long, but in any case, it will end the same way: death.
Death is both a non-investigable mystery and the most known one to humans: once your heart stops beating, game over.
But is our heart actually defining when we stop living?
I was born in 1994 as a mistake. Yeah, it sounds bad but it’s true: my mom was smoking a lot those times and my parents were having a relationship crisis.
One day they found out about…
This story begins way back in 2012 when I still had hair on my head and two years of high school to do before attending college. I didn’t like the web very much: I thought that social networks were a loss of time and the only valid reason to surf the web was to download games or listening to some good music.
Yeah, I was an edgy boy at the time and didn’t fully comprehend the potential of a platform like Facebook, which was “the best of the best” those years; but in the end, because of a girl I…
2014. I just finished high school and I had two choices: finding a job or going to college. Since I wanted to reach the top I went to college.
But I didn’t have really a plan at that point, because my dream to become an aerospace engineer was gone: my maths and science grades were extremely low, and entering Engineering while not understanding equations isn’t a great idea.
Some of us keep dreaming and go for the most loved degree, but others like me try to balance what they like and what actually can be spent in the world of…
When we speak of the dark age, we often refer to a scary, negative, and gloomy period of history where terror and inquisition reigned over lands.
As kids, we feared the horrible medieval tales about torture and how nasty life was for poor peasants; but was the Dark age really dark?
During the Dark Ages (or more correctly, Middle-Ages), art flourished in every part of Europe. We can admire the magnificent Byzantine mosaics, which brought infinite shades and lights to churches and cathedrals.
Then Romanesque art and architecture came in, merging the concepts of solidity, strength, simplicity, and reliability.
Since the dawn of time, one of the deepest desires of human beings has been to fly. Many centuries after the death of Icarus, who arrogantly flew too high and too near the burning sun, we can finally fulfill our desire without needing waxy wings and bird feathers.
Planes are part of our lives nowadays, and probably they will be for a long long time. Since I was a kid, I’ve been fascinated by fast things, and my eye was obviously caught by the charm of these iron birds, flying at over one thousand kilometers per hour. …
Some months ago, I made an article about improving your design skills with an original trick and, to my surprise, it got extremely well received: the famous designer Ran Segall transformed my idea into an IG 30 days challenge in which a lot of designers participated.
Today, I want to tell you about a new idea that came up to my mind one day while opening Figma and listening to some weird Psychedelic rock.
That day I decided to give a chance to a band named The Re-Stoned, and started listening to them while designing.
I suddenly noticed how my…
Many years ago, when I started my design career with small little steps, I had the opportunity to collaborate with a real estate agency. My main role was to help the team by designing and developing newsletters, parts of their website, and management software; This made me notice a particularly strange thing: women and men colleagues often argued about colors.
One thing I remember in particular about that job was the Christmas Newsletter, where we had to design and ship a convincing special offer using a nice red background: We’ve changed the red tonality at least five times.
Some days ago I met a longtime friend, who decided to become a developer after his bachelor’s degree; he told me that his experience wasn’t particularly satisfying and my curiosity forced me to had to ask him what went wrong in his short career.
“Project Managers are ****”
This was the summary of his last 3 years of life. His anger was totally directed towards his PM who, based on his story,
“didn’t know or care **** about what we’re doing”.
I never felt so understood.
I don’t want to name the company he worked with, but I let you…
Stats are sad. Only about 10% of writers earn more than 100 dollars in a month, and Probably a lot of them will quit writing because of the time consumed.
In fact, to earn your first 100$ you’ll probably need to write at least 5–10 articles… and believe me, you’ll need to spend at least 1 hour per article.
Sure, earning 100 bucks for 10 hours of work is a great earning, but in my experience, it’s a lot harder than it seems. Why?
You’ll read about…
Some time ago, I’ve written about “5 reasons why I would probably quit my UX career”: that article got very well received and many people wrote to me on socials, discussing the topic and sharing many of their experiences I also had in these years.
In particular, everyone confirmed that there is a problem with college education and how it relates to the world of work, so today I am going to write and discuss a list of 10 things you MUST know before pursuing a design degree.
This article is going to tell you both upsides and downsides of…
